Text Box: Dear Sisters and Brothers,
At Farnham we agreed to contribute to and receive an ecumenical Lent Book produced by South West Surrey Churches. The theme was: ‘Unless a grain of wheat falls’. This is a quotation from John 12:24, were Jesus predicts His death, but says that it will bear much fruit, like a grain dying in the earth that goes on to produce new ears of corn. In John 12:32, He goes on to say that as He is lifted up on the cross He will draw all people to Himself.

At Aldershot we have just had a Messy Church with the theme, ‘Snakes and Cakes’. It was held on St. Patrick’s Day, so, as well as making Shamrock Cakes, we remembered how St. Patrick is thought to have driven all the snakes out of Ireland. In John 3:14-15, Jesus’s death on a cross is predicted and compared to the time in the wilderness when the people of Israel were healed of snake bites by looking to a bronze serpent that Moses lifted up.

This Easter season, let us, to quote Newbolt and Kitchin’s hymn (Singing the Faith 276),
‘Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim’.

The coffee morning in aid of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People on 3rd March raised £128.  Please support the coffee morning on 7th April for Days for Girls. Around the world, girls and women resort to using rags, mattress stuffing, banana leaves, feathers, and even cow dung to manage their menstruation. Days for Girls provides a safe, washable and long-lasting alternative along with vital health education. Without a solution to manage her monthly cycle:1 in 10 girls in Sub-Saharan Africa,  113 million adolescent girls in India and 30% of girls in rural Brazil will miss school this year.
